Donald Trump’s estranged niece has revealed that she quietly married her second wife in an intimate ceremony last fall.
Mary Trump, 60, shared the news on Sunday in a newsletter to her Substack subscribers, titled ‘Reader, I Married Her.’
‘There is a human impulse during dark times to turn away from the light, especially when the darkness encroaches in a way that feels inescapable,’ she wrote.
‘Luckily, the opposite impulse also exists; despite the increasing onslaught of deliberate cruelty, lost ground, and assaults on our very understanding of who we are over the last year, our better instincts prevail—our instincts not only to subsist and survive, but to thrive.’
Mary shared that she met her second wife on January 20, 2025, noting the irony that she found love on the day that her estranged uncle was inaugurated.
Mary has been a fierce critic of the president throughout his political career. She campaigned against him and endorsed Kamala Harris in 2024, writing that she was ‘proud and honored’ to support the Democratic candidate.
Trump’s niece added that the wedding was last October and only a small group of family and close friends attended.
She gushed over the newfound love in her life, adding: ‘There is more to the story, of course – including the reason for my not having spoken of my marriage publicly before this – and times continue to be challenging.’

Mary also took the opportunity to condemn her uncle’s administration, calling the first year of his second term ‘as shocking as it is predictable.’
Although she didn’t reveal her wife’s name in the post, author E Jean Carroll commented: ‘MARY! MARY! AMERICA NEEDED SOME JOY! And you and Ronda are giving it to us!!!’
Carroll was awarded $83 million in a New York civil court after she accused the president of sexually abusing her.
Mary has a daughter, Avary Linden Trump, from her first marriage. Her father, Fred Trump Jr, was the president’s older brother. He died in 1981 from a heart attack linked to alcoholism.
Fred was one of Trump’s four siblings, including Maryanne, Elizabeth, and Robert. Elizabeth is the only one of Trump’s siblings still alive.
Trump has previously said that Fred’s alcoholism was the reason why he never drank, telling the Washington Post in 2019: ‘He was so handsome, and I saw what alcohol did to him even physically . . . and that had an impact on me, too.’
Mary, a trained psychologist, revealed the family’s tumultuous dynamic in her 2024 memoir, Who Could Ever Love You.
She wrote about her father’s alcoholism, how he competed with his siblings for their father’s attention, and how his death at 42 impacted her.

Mary’s father, pictured left, was the president’s older brother. She and her brother, Fred Trump III, pictured right, have been critical of Trump’s administration
‘Inadequately and only conditionally loved, there were no adults in her life except for the father she loved, but lost before she could know him; and a mother abandoned by her ex-husband’s rich and powerful family who demanded her loyalty but left her with nothing,’ the memoir’s description reads.
Mary and her brother, Fred Trump III, have repeatedly spoken out against Trump’s policies.
In response to the president’s use of the ‘R’ slur, Fred Trump III wrote on X in December: ‘As the parent of a young adult with severe disabilities, the use of the ‘R’ word is never acceptable and is very hurtful. Where has this country gone that we even have to discuss this?’
Fred Trump III also wrote a book about the family’s dark secrets titled All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way.
