Amid the news that Karoline Leavitt is expecting baby number two, her previous comments about motherhood have resurfaced.
On Friday, the White House press secretary, 28, revealed that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 60, were expecting their second child together, a girl.
The couple already have one-year-old Niko, who will be a big brother come May.
‘The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for – a baby girl coming in May 2026,’ Leavitt wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, as she posed by the Christmas tree in a white bodycon sweater dress, cradling her bump.
‘My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,’ her message continued.
‘My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.
‘I am also extremely grateful to President Donald Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!’ the press secretary concluded.
Now, as she prepares to become a mom of two, her previous remarks about being a working parent have come to light.

She spoke to The Conservateur about balancing her demanding job with raising her son in a 2024 interview.
Leavitt notoriously came back to work just a few days after she gave birth to Niko in July, after President Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
‘I felt compelled to be present in this historic moment,’ she explained to the outlet.
‘The President literally put his life on the line to win this election. The least I could do is get back to work quickly,’ she said.
At the time, Leavitt was the national press secretary for Trump’s presidential campaign, even working up until the last days of her pregnancy.
She told the outlet that their campaign headquarters at the time, in Palm Beach, was a very welcoming environment for working parents.
‘We have a really welcoming environment for children at the office, the headquarters in West Palm Beach,’ Leavitt shared.
‘You know, we joke that on Saturdays, it’s bring-your-kid-to-work day,’ she said, as both Danielle Alvarez, who was a senior adviser to the campaign, and Sonny Joy Nelson, who was the director of media bookings, also had young children.

‘Sonny and I will be on the phone with one another late at night or early in the morning,’ Leavitt recalled.
‘Her baby’s crying. My baby’s crying. We’re working together through the chaos. And it’s a crazy but very rewarding thing all at the same time.’
However, although she said she loves working for Trump, the 28-year-old admitted at the time that it was hard to leave her son at home some days.
‘Leaving the baby every day to go to work, it does break your heart,’ Leavitt confessed.
‘It’s incredibly challenging emotionally, physically, spiritually.’
Leavitt told the outlet that she hopes the one value her son learns from her is the importance of having ‘confidence.’
‘If he knows his worth is not from any other person, but from God, he can accomplish anything,’ she told The Conservateur.
Leavitt added that she hopes her son will grow up to be both ‘kind’ and ‘fun’ – and that he will be proud of her.
‘My hope in all this is, when I tell Niko one day all that I did when he was in my belly and around the time he was born, he’ll be proud of his mom,’ she shared.
